Qualifications and experience: Must have a minimum diploma in compliance/law/business administration/science or equivalent.A Degree in law is an advantageA certification in implementing and managing quality management systemsA certification in internal auditing/lead auditor:Occupational Certificate: Compliance Officer (NQF 6)PGDip in Management Practice, specializing in compliance management)Experience and Skills required:Must have an understanding of compliance laws/regulations/standards, entrepreneurial skills and confidence in handling data.3 - 5 years prior experience in compliance and/or risk management roles in the trade, distribution and processing environments (experience in food, chemical sectors will be an advantage)Familiarity with ISO 9001/14001Have the ability to think strategicallySuperior attention to detail in order to identify and correct risks in the business operationsMust be a strong communicator and capable of expressing oneself clearly both speaking and in writing in EnglishPossess a collaborative personality and be open to suggestions from team members and to offering opinion/suggestionExemplify strong knowledge of industry protocols and best practicesExcellent analytical skills and ability to accurately interpret complex documents and policiesStrong time management and organizational skills and able to meet deadlinesShould have a strong moral code and sense of ethicsAn understanding of market in trade and distribution of industrial chemicalsAbility to work remotely from compliance teamIn your position as compliance officer, you will be responsible for:Masterminding and reviewing existing compliance policies and protocols on behalf of the organizationMaintain and implement a compliance program to ensure the organization operates in accordance with global and regional legislation and regulations and organization internal strategies and policiesMonitor and track compliance metrics and systemsReview any marketing materials and publications to ensure it is compliantRemain up to date on compliance standards, regulations and laws related to the organization and update policies accordinglyPerform compliance audits internally throughout all pillars of the business to determine whether establish protocols are being followed and where they can be improvedLiaising with various assessing bodies for purposes of external assessments and audits, and assisting in external auditsDeveloping training modules and conducting training with staff in relation to all matters related to complianceMaintain up to date written documentation and policies related to the organization's business activitiesCreate compliance resource library for staff members to reference when they have questions
