A specialist warehouse and distribution company has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, customer service-oriented SHEQ Officer in the Eastern Cape
The SHEQ Officer is responsible for coordinating the Quality, Environmental, Health, Safety, legal compliance programmes and related issues within the department.
She/he is also responsible for ensuring that the business complies with all relevant SHEQ legislation, company policies and procedures, minimum requirements and permit requirements.
Coordination of the implementation, maintenance and administration of the SHEQ management system.
National Senior Certificate / MatricSAMTRAC Certificate or equivalent occupational SHE trainingNational Diploma or equivalent in Health Safety ManagementFirst Aid level 2 Basic CertificateFire Prevention CertificateRegistered as a Professional Construction Health Safety Officer under the
SACPCMPEnvironmental Quality qualifications are an advantageMinimum of 1-2 years relevant experience in monitoring and auditing of contractor safety performances.Experience in implementing Health and Safety in a highly technical, complex Industrial environment essentialExposure to and understanding of the implementation of OHSAS 18001 / 14001
and ISO 9001PROCESS / ADMINISTRATION Coordination of SHEQ service providersReview compliance to regional rules and regulationsEnsure that SHEQ meetings are held, recorded and document controlledEnsure / enforce contractors' complianceConduct accident investigations when requiredAssist management with the implementation of the SHEQ management system;Assist in updating the SHEQ Management system to accommodate changes in legislation and Industry StandardsEnsure SHEQ document and data control systems are maintained by the responsible personsPromote SHEQ AwarenessMonitor audit findings and recommend corrective and preventative actionsConduct and facilitate risk assessmentsIssue Non-conformance's where requiredEnsure management set objectives and targets for SHEQ compliance in the divisionEvaluate and communicate the effectiveness of SHEQ management plansMaintain control and training registersMaintain all site safety filesPEOPLE MANAGEMENT Develop and empower employees to take ownership of the SHEQ Management systemConduct regular awareness training on all sitesEnsure health and safety representative, first aider, firefighter and handling of hazardous material training is up to dateADMINISTRATION General filling of all documents receivedFINANCE Assist in the preparation and management of budgetsCLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGMENT Establish and build a relationship with TES representativesCommunicate and provide feedback regularly to clients and resolve client and TES queries timeously
