JOB REQUIREMENTS: Relevant Tertiary Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety/ Occupational Hygiene / Disaster Management / Environmental Science or similar A minimum of 5 years' experience in SHE system implementation and development. Preferably in the pharmaceutical, chemical, or manufacturing Industries Supervisory experience would be an added advantage ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 Internal Auditing qualification would be an advantage Certifications and/or knowledge in occupational hygiene monitoring and ergonomics will be an advantage Sound knowledge of SHE Legislation (local, provincial & national) Must have experience in the facilitation of OSHE training Must have experience in different types of Risk Assessment
BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS (Brief Summary): Supervise SHE Officers Carry out any duty or requirement imposed on the company by the OHS Act and in accordance with your specific SHE appointment Report any unsafe or unhealthy situations to the SHE Manager and relevant Department Manager / Supervisor (in addition to using the Near Miss System) and take appropriate action to rectify Manage the Occupational Hygiene Monitoring program onsite. This includes coordinating relevant AIA monitoring (noise / illumination / asbestos / chemical exposure / ventilation / emissions etc.) and conducting selected in-house testing and monitoring e.g. occupational exposure, ergonomics Effective contribution to various risk assessments/ HAZOPS conducted onsite and lead baseline risk assessments as required. Manage OHSE Risk Assessment registry and ensure outstanding action items are tracked to completion Conduct OHSE audits onsite and at relevant service providers Facilitate Quarterly SHE Committee Meetings Facilitate OHSE related training onsite including training on outcomes of occupational hygiene surveys/ risks assessments / HAZOPS etc. Supervise the Near Miss and Incident Reporting System Assist in managing SHE CAPA system Ensure all Legal appointments are up to date Assist with incident response and investigations and ensure incident documents are signed within prescribed time frames and SHE CAPA's are tracked to completion Manage relevant OHSE service providers (e.g. Pest Control/ selected waste service providers) Participate in one of the site emergency response teams and assist in coordinating emergency drill exercises Comply with GMP requirements as outlined by Company SOP's and written instructions in all tasks and activities Ensure all sections within the department maintain compliance with company OHSE standards, statutory documentation for contractors is up to date, e.g. AIA certifications, DOL certifications
