Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas The University of the Western Cape's (UWC) Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department plays a pivotal role in delivering ICT services that enable and support the University's strategic goals and objectives.
ICS, in line with growing its capability and supporting the Digital Transformation Strategy of UWC, offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced SharePoint Developer in the ICS Applications Development and Support unit.
The incumbent will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of current and new applications and solutions.
They will report to and take instruction from the Team Lead of the Business Systems Unit.
The key role and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Analyse business requirementsDesign, develop, maintain and support existing and new SharePoint sitesDocument and test solutionsDevelop and configure user-friendly, secure, and scalable SharePoint sites and enhancements3-year degree (NQF 7) or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science with 3 years relevant experience developing SharePoint sites orSenior certificate (with Bachelors pass) with 5 years relevant experience developing SharePoint sitesOffice 365 certificationAdvantageous requirements: Experience working in an academic environmentExperience implementing SharePoint On-Premises, SharePoint Online, Power Platform and O365 solutionsBasic experience of SharePoint APIsBasic understanding of service-oriented and object-oriented development environmentUnderstanding of modern SharePoint web stack and creating deployable packagesExperience creating low code/no code solutions using PowerApps and Power Automate workflowsBasic understanding of Microsoft Graph and Azure Active DirectoryUnderstanding hybrid implementation of SharePoint on-premise and SharePoint online and related complexitiesExperience of SharePoint document and record management and data migration and migration toolsProven ability to develop innovative, secure, scalable, re-usable, user-friendly and accessible solutionsAdditional advantageous skills: Understanding of Fluent UI, user interface design and prototypingExperience in relational database design and implementation with SQL Server, ASP.NET MVC, TFS, AzureFamiliarity with Azure Dev Ops for source control, work item tracking and pipelines for automated buildsBasic understanding of ISO/IEC 27001, OWASP, WCAG2 and ITILBasic understanding of Waterfall, Agile and DevOps implementation methodologiesIn your application, you are encouraged to highlight your strengths and include anything else you deem exceptional and outstanding to be considered by the selection panel.
