In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring production equipment is well-maintained and operating at optimal performance. Your expertise in setting machines, conducting fault analysis, and ensuring process integrity will be crucial to our production team. Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify, report and rectify all technical areas of concern on assigned production equipment (machines, moulds, etc.)Have an in-depth understanding of:Product and its quality criteriaProcess (material feeding and drying, injection moulding, reheat stretch blow moulding and injection blow moulding)General knowledge of all equipment, detailed for assigned equipmentMould installationTechnical principles and drawings (e.g., assemblies and spare part finding, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric)Fault analysis and problem solving:Independently do fault analysis and problem solving in case of (teamwork as needed):Product quality issuesMould issuesMachine malfunction (mechanic / hydraulic / pneumatic / electric)Recognize and report problems to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager on other than the assigned equipmentIndependently develop maintenance plans and check lists (teamwork as needed)Ensure maintenance is done at required intervals according to the plans:By yourselfBy service suppliers as agreed by Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerDocument maintenance according to the plansIdentify spares needed for assigned equipment:In generalAs a preventative measure identified during maintenance checksOptimization of the production process, setting the machine for optimal performance and cycle timeEnsure that the process integrity is optimal for each run, if not amend and record new process settingDocument settings as per standard practice at the facilityLiaise with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager (in charge) to ensure machine availability vs. major maintenance intervalsHave an overview of what needs to be done and report to Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerGive completion dates and fulfil tasks required by Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerEnsure sound relationships and communication with internal work-related staff (QC, Production, etc.) and external (Toolroom, Technical department, suppliers, etc.)Strive for improvement, research, and make suggestionsLog jobs performedAnalyse Defect Register together with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to improve production resultContact external suppliers as agreed with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to assist in solving problems (quotes on service, spare parts, etc.)Have an overview of existing stock for equipmentSpare part analysis (= keep stock vs. source at breakdown):Likelihood of wear/breakage vs. cost vs. delivery timeReport parts needed to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager and assist in decision to have on stock or source at breakdownAssist Maintenance Manager & Production Manager in ordering process (e.g., prepare documents, follow up on orders)Plan for the year ahead, assist Maintenance Manager & Production Manager with work on budget for maintenanceEnsure and enforce that aspects in area of responsibility conform to Health and safety requirementsMaintain housekeeping standards in area of responsibility (e.g., ensure cleanliness assigned machines and areas)Work safely and report on safety hazards or issuesReport any accidents, incidents and near missesApply the companys quality principles and standardsMaintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)Food safety standards are site-specific, and at these sites, employees should:Apply the sites food safety principles and standardsReport any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/ManagerComply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation to the Companys FSMS (Food Safety Management System)Realistic assessment of own strengths and development areas and undertake actions to address weaknesses, if any that hinders the fulfilment of your objectivesKeep abreast of innovation and technical improvements for further self-development and the development of the company:Keep contact with your key suppliers and discuss with themRead operator manuals of machinesRead literature that has to do with your position (e.g., on the internet, Google, etc.)Teamwork and co-operationSelf-ManagementLeadership and interpersonal relationshipProduct and service qualityPerform additional tasks as required from time to timeEnsure team knows what to do and where to find information if you are not availableInform yourself about and apply the company's principles and standardsSet an example, be requirementsMinimum Requirements:Education: Grade 12 with a minimum N2 in Tool, Jig & Die trade theory and trade tested (red seal), preferableExperience: 5 years relevant setting experienceTechnical Knowledge:Sound understanding of drawingsFundamentals of fault finding and equipment testingSound knowledge on H&S and safe working proceduresInstallation of parts & related equipmentFault finding and problem solvingGood communication skillsAbility to act decisively and urgentlyHigh level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skillsPassionate to progress a career into Packaging for the future with an appreciation of the environmental concerns and impacts.Able to make good business aligned judgment decisions at an operational level whilst maintaining maintenance standards, practices & procedures in line with defined and communicated authority and as per instructionsResponsible for all activities linked to position as definedEnsure escalation to the appropriate level of
