Description: Course number and title: PPG1007H-S – Strategic Policy Implementation
Course description: This is a foundational course in professional policy practice. It is interdisciplinary, drawing on key concepts from science, social science, business, and public administration as well as the world of the policy practitioner. This course introduces students to thinking in a critical, integrated way about how to deliver on public policy objectives in the context of a dynamic political and stakeholder environment. Specifically, it examines key considerations in developing an implementation strategy for a policy initiative.
Estimated TA support: 40-hours
*The delivery method for this course is expected to be in-person. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department.
Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025
Minimum qualifications: Graduate degree in public policy or economics required, with specialization in finance. Extensive and senior professional policy practitioner experience required. Teaching experience at the graduate level required.
Preferred Qualifications: Completed PhD preferred.
Description of duties: Teaching at the graduate level, developing the syllabus, teaching three-hour classes, providing bi-weekly break-out group leadership and office hours for academic counselling of students, preparing and delivering course material, preparing and delivering assignments and tests, marking student work and submitting grades, and supervising TA.
