We will study the eclectic nature of Turkic mythology, examining how ancient shamanistic practices and Islamic beliefs have intertwined to influence Turkic societies' spiritual, cultural, and societal norms. Through a comprehensive study of oral traditions, literary sources, and historical texts, students will gain insight into the continuity and transformation of Turkic mythological themes across centuries.Class Schedule: Thursdays 5:00pm - 7:00pmClass Format: In PersonSessional Dates of Appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations or related field or equivalent knowledge and experience.
