Senior Transport Planner/ Transport PlannerAt the Otago Regional Council (ORC), our mission is to protect and enhance the environment and enable our communities to do the same. The Opportunity The Transport team at the Otago Regional Council is on the lookout for a key transport planning professional to join them. The work covers the diverse region of Otago, including the key centres of Queenstown and Dunedin.
The focus of the roles is on transport planning for the beautiful region of Otago, through the development and monitoring of the Regional Land Transport Plan and Regional Public Transport Plan, and the review of transport policy, strategy, plans and business cases. You will provide technical advice to the Transport team, based on your skills & experience.
As a transport professional working in the ORC, you will be responsible for:
Providing advice that is accurate, timely and supports informed decision making in relation to strategic transport planning.Leading procurement of professional transport planning and investigation services.Providing specific advice and guidance on the impacts of national policy and direction on the Transport function.Ensuring the transport function is properly informed & prepared for upcoming changes that will impact the business.Providing input to and assist with development of ORC's Long Term Plan (LTP), Annual Plan and Annual Report and quarterly reporting.Contributing to the GrowWell (Queenstown), Connecting Dunedin, and Way2Go partnerships.If you are interested in making a real difference to transport in a unique and diverse region, then this is the role for you!
About You Our ideal candidate will have:
A relevant tertiary degree in transport planning, transport studies, urban planning or public policy or equivalent experience.A strong interest in Public Transport, accessible transport and travel demand management.Demonstrated experience (or willingness) to develop relationships and interact with stakeholders at all levels both internally and externallyAn ability to deal with ambiguity in a complex environment.A strong customer focus including the ability to develop solutions that provide 'value for money'.Creative problem solver, enjoy working collaboratively and taking initiatives.An appetite for challenges and change.
