We are looking for a Senior Technician OSP with a strong background in telecommunications and fibre network planning. This role involves overseeing the planning, construction, and maintenance of fibre optic and telecommunication networks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network infrastructure, wayleave and permitting processes, as-built document verification, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Planning and Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys, and plan and prepare drawings for constructing, removing, or rearranging overhead and underground lines, cables, and conduits.
As-Built Documentation: Verify as-built documents against original plans to ensure accuracy.
Wayleave and Permitting: Coordinate wayleave and permitting processes to ensure the feasibility of network plans and monitor stock availability and procurement of quotes from service providers.
Team Leadership: Lead a team in network planning, fibre infrastructure build, and splicing activities.
Procurement Management: Oversee procurement processes, including material stock monitoring, equipment ordering, and requesting quotes from suppliers.
Civils Route Planning: Apply different methodologies for civil route planning and ensure the economical utilization of network infrastructure.
Technical Accuracy: Ensure technical correctness and accuracy of OSP (Outside Plant) and fibre network plans, including verifying their relevance.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to Health and Safety legislation and other permitting constraints.
Use of Technology: Utilize tools like GE Smallworld, Google Earth, Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint to manage network planning activities.
Requirements Qualifications:
3-year tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
At least 8-10 years' telecommunications industry experience, with 5 years in fibre records and network planning.
Experience in a supervisory role, particularly in infrastructure build, patching, and splicing planning.
Valid driver's license and physically able-bodied.
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong understanding of OSP and fibre network planning.
Proficiency in using tools like Google Earth and GE Smallworld for network mapping.
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation related to telecommunications infrastructure.
Ability to lead teams and manage procurement processes.
Knowledge of the latest developments in the telecommunications industry, particularly related to fibre and OSP planning.
