Honours or equivalent degree at NQF 8 will be an added advantage.
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: knowledge and understanding of biobank operational requirements including the collection and long-term storage of biological materials; standard laboratory practices and procedures; data management skills and ability to operate electronic databases; must demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks; strong computer literacy with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Excel, Word and Power point; ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to managing tasks.
The possession of a valid driver's license with at least one year of practical driving experience and willingness to travel and work away from home is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: Render Support Services within the Unit; Ensure Laboratory Coordination and Sample Management; Perform research duties; Attend to Administration and Financial duties; and Provide research support to scientist, and supervision to interns.
