As a Razor Labs Technical Project Manager, you will primarily focus on overseeing technological projects within the mining sector, directly at client sites across Africa, specifically in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
This role entails close collaboration with clients, ensuring their needs are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities include project planning, resource allocation, management of suppliers, procurement management, interface with integrators, and working with international teams.
Your expertise in project management methodologies and technical understanding will be pivotal in driving project efficiency and excellence.
In addition, this position requires flexibility in working hours.
Engage with stakeholders to ensure project requirements are clearly defined.
Develop project plans and schedules, working with the project team to ensure milestones are met.
Ensure project deliverables are met and accepted by the client.
Ensure that all interactions with clients are conducted in a professional and respectful manner.
Keep clients informed and up to date on the status of project technical aspects.
Monitor site progress and coordinate work activities with stakeholders.
Prepare and update project documents such as progress reports and activity lists to keep track of work and stakeholders informed.
Work with the project and commissioning team to ensure product and system quality.
Identify risks and perform evaluations to determine solutions for implementation.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives and processes to support the client's needs.
The role operates on a rotational schedule, requiring approximately 6–8 weeks on-site at client locations in the DRC, followed by a 2-week R&R period.
Candidates must be prepared to spend extended periods on-site and demonstrate flexibility to meet project and client needs.
Requirements At least 5 years of experience in a project management role within the mining, heavy machinery, or similar industrial sectors.
Demonstrated experience in leading technical projects from conception through to implementation, particularly in on-site environments.
Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage project timelines effectively.
Instrumentation experience is a must.
Experience with installations, integrations, and working with integrators is required.
Strong communication skills to act as the primary point of contact between the client and the technical team.
Ability to negotiate, persuade, and ensure project alignment with client expectations.
Hands-on experience with on-site project execution, including the deployment of technology solutions in remote or challenging environments.
Capability to identify, analyze, and solve complex technical problems related to machinery operation, sensor integration, and data interpretation.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
Specialization in mechanical engineering is a plus.
Advantages: Experience in software implementation projects will be an advantage.
Experience with sensor installations on machinery will be an advantage.
Knowledge of software such as SAP is a plus.
Technical expertise in data analysis: Proficiency in data-related fields for mining and processing assets.
Expertise in condition monitoring, vibration analysis, thermography, and lubricant analysis within heavy industrial environments.
Proficiency in project management software and data analysis tools.
Familiarity with AI and machine learning applications is an asset.
Experience in DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) will be an advantage.
