Job Description: Senior Structural Engineer
Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. As a Structural Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and conducting civil/structural designs and documentation for dam and hydropower-related projects. This position requires a high level of competence to ensure the structural integrity and safety of these critical structures.
Responsibilities:

Structural Design: Lead and execute structural designs for civil works components related to dams and hydropower stations at various project stages, including concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, tender, and detail design. Ensure compliance with relevant criteria and industry standards.
Documentation and Drawings: Prepare reinforcement drawings and bar bending schedules in collaboration with draughtspersons. Generate accurate cost estimations and Bills of Quantities for project budgeting and procurement purposes.
Technical Support and Constructability: Provide technical support to the site team during construction, including constructability reviews and guidance on structural design implementation. Review, interpret, analyze, and present structural designs for dams and associated works.
Risk Management: Apply appropriate risk management practices specific to dams and associated structures. Stay updated with best practices in structural engineering and risk management related to structures.
Reports and Communication: Prepare comprehensive structural design reports and contribute to tender submissions and proposals. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams on civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering projects in both office and virtual team environments.
Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior engineers and draughtspersons. Share your expertise and contribute to the professional development of the team.
Ad Hoc Tasks: Undertake other assigned tasks within the team as directed by senior staff, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility in managing additional responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Graduate in Civil Engineering with a BSc in Civil Engineering.
Professional Registration: Preferred registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng (Professional Engineer).
Language Skills: Fluent in English, with excellent proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.
Travel Requirement: Hold a valid passport for potential travel related to project assignments.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural designs, with at least 2 projects involving detailed design of dams or related structures and 1 project including construction supervision of dams or water-related structures.

Technical Proficiency: Exhibit strong technical knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil Designer, Civil 3D, Autodesk Robot/Revit, and other relevant software tools. Experience with report writing and dealing with geotechnical reports is essential.
Attention to Detail: Display meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in design calculations, documentation, and drawings.
Problem Solving: Possess excellent problem-solving skills, enabling the identification and resolution of technical challenges effectively.
Time Management: Exhibit efficient time management skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet project milestones.
Creativity: Demonstrate a creative approach to structural engineering design, exploring innovative solutions while adhering to safety and regulatory requirements.
Self-Awareness: Display self-awareness and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work environments.
3D Modeling and GIS Skills: Proficiency in 3D modeling software and Geographic Information System (GIS) tools is advantageous.
Strong Organizational Skills: Exhibit strong organizational skills, including the ability to multitask effectively and maintain attention to detail while managing complex projects.
Computer Skills: Possess excellent computer skills, including proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools used for structural analysis, design, and documentation.
