The Department: The IT Department is trusted with managing several offices and datacentres across the globe. We are responsible for the productivity of thousands of Super Group staff and ensure the security and integrity of our data.
We use industry leading products and techniques to ensure that the DOS is available 24x7x365 and that our staff and customers have the best experience possible. Unifying people and resources to enable the business to be more agile and easily react to market conditions will be key to helping the Super Group to achieve its goals.
Purpose of the Role: Reporting to the ServerCore Manager, you will be focused on project work to improve systems and infrastructure. You will also be an escalation point for the ServerCore Administrator team, working to upskill that team with the aim for them to self-service going forward. Upskilling and improving the team is a core goal of the Tech Department as a whole.
You will also be expected to work the most advanced problems and incidents to conclusion with a focus on root cause analysis and preventatives that will prevent similar incidents reoccurring.
The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background in supporting infrastructure for both on-premises and cloud. Kubernetes is a key technology that the company is adopting and you will need to be familiar with this tech stack.
Duties include, but not limited to: Applying best practice and configuring virtual environments including hyper-visors and Kubernetes. Working with multiple public clouds to deliver solutions to the business that are cost effective and scalable. Deliver solutions that are portable and can be moved between public clouds or to on-prem. Use code repositories and IaaC to deliver projects that are repeatable and predictable. Focus on delivering projects for the ServerCore team. Meet frequently with ServerCore Manager to understand current business requirements. Analysing current systems and searching for optimizations in spending on all resources with a focus on items like software licenses and hardware sprawl. Continually research new technologies, maintain strong relationships with top vendors, arrange POC reviews of new tech to validate cost effectiveness within the group and negotiate highly discounted deals in a morally sound way. Work closely with the PMO team to effectively manage projects that you and the team work on. Use Confluence as a central repository for information about Infrastructure and how-to documents to enable others in the team to upskill easily and get tasks done as to DOS best practice. Ensure that standards like ISO27001, SOX, etc. are maintained. Analyse current infrastructure and actively seek ways to innovate and optimize our systems through self-initiated projects that are monitored and managed by PMO. Promote automation within the team. Ensure monitoring is in place to detect failure or potential failure of all DOS systems including but not limited to Servers, Storage and Data Centre services such as UPS, Air-con and Generators. Work closely with other Infrastructure teams to understand their requirements or challenges and match their needs with solutions available. When required work closely with the Architect team to facilitate the alignment of future needs with the infrastructure already deployed within the group. Work closely with the ServerCore Manager to plan and forecast for needed hardware spends to proactively match all needs of the business. Essential Criteria: A Relevant Information Technology tertiary qualification and Microsoft Certifications. Minimum 5 years' experience in the Information Technology industry using Microsoft Technologies. Experience with Terraform and code repositories. Understanding of systems and architecture (DB's, Servers, Networks, storage, etc.) Ability to troubleshoot in a timely and effective manner. Ability to convey complex problems to Business stakeholders in an easy and efficient way. Demonstrates consistent behavior aligned to our Organisational Culture. Desirable Criteria: SOX understanding and experience operating controls. Business process understanding. Rancher SUSE Experience. Kubernetes understanding and knowledge.
