Senior Scientist (E) (Cape Town) Duration: 1 year The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) is seeking to appoint a Senior Scientist in its Health Systems Research Unit (HSRU). This employee will be working across multiple projects within the HSRU Unit. This includes writing up findings from a study that has just completed data collection (HERStory 3 Study), co-ordination of the CDC PrEP Study and E-Health project. The employee will be responsible for overseeing data collectors in the field, assisting with data collection support, training of field staff and submission of project reports.

Responsibilities: Write up study findings into papersAnalyze quantitative study resultsCo-ordinate projectsManage field staffAssist in training of field staff where neededAssist in the logistical arrangements for data collectionSet up, manage, and monitor quality control and quality assurance processes Developing or contributing to SOPs and ensuring compliance Ensure data is collected, organized and stored according to SAMRC ethical principles Produce reports on study progress Liaise with high-level stakeholders such as facility managers, research institutions etc. Core Requirements: Master's degree in public health/ Epidemiology/ Biostatistics3-5 years' fieldwork experience in public health studies1-2 years' study monitoring experienceFluent in English and AfrikaansExperience with Survey to Go/ RedCap / Kobo toolbox/ Map enterprise. Advantageous: Experience with working with statistical software packages e.g. SPSS or R Experience with coordinating or managing a field teamExperience with high level stakeholder engagement such as facility managers, research institutions etc.Experience with quality control data management Terms & Conditions: The SAMRC retains the right not to make an appointment.
