DESCRIPTION / SYNOPSIS:
Join a leading company serving the mining industry as a Senior Sales Representative. Focus on a specialised plated steel product, driving market launch, new customer acquisition, and technical support. Your expertise in sales and technical aspects will help develop new business, manage customer orders, and ensure production efficiency.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

5 – 10 years' Proven experience in sales and technical support within the mining or steel industry
Experience and exposure in the mining and/or steel industries
Understanding of mining, aggregates, and heavy equipment
Knowledge of manufacturing and technical drawings
This role requires frequent travel to sites in and around South Africa
Strong sales techniques and excellent communication skills
Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
Proficient in CRM systems and MS Excel

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as the primary contact for all quality and technical support related to the specialised steel product
Provide product expertise, solutions, and specifications to the team and customers
Seek new sales opportunities, focusing on new business in South Africa and Africa
Target open-cast/contract mining, construction applications, processing plants, and other areas where abrasion-resistant steel can be applied
Pursue opportunities with existing customers, supporting product support representatives
Manage trials, including regular measurements and comprehensive trial reports
Oversee steel stock on- and offsite, conducting stock takes and managing material usage efficiently
Expedite customer orders, handle drawings, quotations, proposals, and coordinate with suppliers
Maintain relationships with suppliers, assessing quality, pricing, and lead times
Travel to branches in South Africa to assist with local opportunities and provide ongoing support
Compile quarterly sales reports, sales predictions, and forecasts
Investigate and validate product warranty claims and complaints
Obtain vendor numbers, implement contractor packs, and ensure site compliance with health, safety, and vehicle regulations
Add value to undercarriage and G.E.T sales by leveraging existing relationships
Conduct competitive intelligence, understand competitor offerings, and recommend actions

SOFT SKILLS/ADDITIONAL INFO:

Effective time management and planning skills
Strong relationship-building skills, able to establish trust and confidence with customers
Focused on closing deals and identifying opportunities in adversity
Proficient in CRM systems and MS Excel
