Senior Research Technician (S) 8-month contract Full-time (40hr p/week) The Mental Health, Alcohol, Substance Use and Tobacco Research Unit seeks to appoint one experienced, dynamic and organised individual to join the Counselling for Alcohol Problems in Pregnancy (CAP-Pre) project, which is a study focused on finalising the contextual and cultural adaptation of the CAP-PRE intervention in South Africa with pregnant women using alcohol to a) reduce alcohol consumption and encourage abstinence, b) improve their well-being, and c) test the intervention's feasibility and acceptability. The successful candidate will be based at MASTRU Delft.
The incumbent will be required to work full-time 40 hours per week. Start date for appointment will be 1 February 2025. Responsibilities: Deliver intervention sessions to pregnant women Capture confidential research information on the electronic software package (i.e. REDCap) Telephonic follow-ups and reminders Research Administration: Filing of documents as per the protocol requirements Scheduling of intervention sessions Accurately documenting all research related information to facilitate ease of retrieval and reporting and maintain an effective filing system. Asset management Quality Assurance/Review: Perform quality control checks on data Identify errors on study documentation, check missing information or data for correction and report the discrepancies to the Study Coordinator Skills Transfer: Ongoing support for field workers on research procedures Reporting: Ensure compliance with study protocols Keep track of appointments and accurately take notes during sessions Weekly report back on study progress Report any adverse and serious incidents to study management as per protocol requirements Perform administrative and any other ad-hoc duties. Core Requirements: Grade 12/Matric Relevant post matric qualifications Accredited Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification 2-3 years counselling experience in a research setting Added Advantage: 1-2 years research study experience Counselling with pregnant women Terms & Conditions: The SAMRC retains the right not to make an appointment.
