Senior Research Technician (S)8-month contractFull-time (40hr p/week)The Mental Health, Alcohol, Substance Use and Tobacco Research Unit seeks to appoint one experienced, dynamic and organised individual to join the Counselling for Alcohol Problems in Pregnancy (CAP-Pre) project, which is a study focused on finalising the contextual and cultural adaptation of the CAP-PRE intervention in South Africa with pregnant women using alcohol to a) reduce alcohol consumption and encourages abstinence, b) improve their well-being, and c) test the intervention's feasibility and acceptability.
The successful candidate will be based at MASTRU Delft.The incumbent will be required to work full-time 40 hours per week.Start date for appointment will be 1 February 2025.Responsibilities:Delivering of the interventionDeliver intervention sessions to pregnant womenCapture confidential research information on the electronic software package ( REDCap)Telephonic follow-ups and remindersResearch Administration:Research administration - Filing of documents as per the protocol requirementsScheduling of intervention sessionsAccurately documenting all research related information in order to facilitate ease of retrieval and reporting and maintain an effective filing system.Asset managementQuality Assurance/ReviewPerform quality control checks on dataIdentify errors on study documentation, check missing information or data for correction and report the discrepancies to the Study CoordinatorSkills TransferOn-going support field workers on research proceduresReporting: Ensure compliance with study protocolsKeeping track of appointments and accurate note-taking during sessionsWeekly report back on study progressReport any adverse and serious incidents to study management as per protocol requirementsPerform administrative- and any other ad-hoc duties.Core Requirements:Have a Grade 12/MatricRelevant post matric qualificationsAccredited Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification2-3 years counselling experience in a research settingAdded Advantage:1-2 years research study experienceCounselling with pregnant womanTerms & Conditions: The SAMRC retains the right not to make an appointment.
