Senior Release Manager - Job Description

Job Duties:
Manage and oversee the release management process, ensuring efficient and timely deployment of software releases
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, and operations, to plan and execute release activities
Create and maintain release schedules, ensuring alignment with project timelines and business objectives
Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimise disruptions during release cycles
Collaborate with stakeholders to define release policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to industry best practises
Monitor and track release progress, providing regular status updates to management and project teams
Identify and escalate release-related issues or conflicts, working towards resolution to minimise impact on project timelines
Ensure proper documentation of release processes, including release notes, deployment instructions, and post-release evaluations
Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to release management, recommending process improvements
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Release Manager or in a similar role
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and release management processes
Excellent knowledge of release management tools and techniques
Ability to effectively coordinate and manage cross-functional teams
Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in release management or a related role
Experience in coordinating and managing complex software release cycles
Knowledge and Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of release management methodologies and best practises
Proficiency in using release management tools and software
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to understand and interpret technical documentation
Excellent project management skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Professional certifications in release management or project management
Experience in the banking and finance industry
Working Conditions:
This is a contract position requiring full-time hours
Work is primarily office-based, with occasional remote work possibilities
May involve occasional travel to client sites or other locations as required
Must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
