CORE PURPOSE OF JOBTo plan, design, coordinate and collaboratively lead quality reviews across the entire quality value chain of academic programmes, support service departments and research/ engagement entities of Nelson Mandela University in order to impact academic excellence and student success.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREASThe purpose of this post is to assist the Director of Quality Advancement relating to coordination, facilitation, and execution of reviews of academic programmes and institutional support services, across all sites.
The position requires extensive knowledge of quality promotion principles and practice in higher education, both nationally and internationally, to promote the development and implementation of an institutional quality advancement system promoting excellence.
CORE COMPETENCIES Comprehensive understanding and experience in navigating the statutory environment relevant in South African higher education pertaining to HEQC, CHE, SAQA and DHET policies.Leading and coordinating all administration, organisation and logistical aspects of quality reviews as per the schedule outlined in the Nelson Mandela Quality Policy.Innovative and flexible to any special requirements an institutional unit might require for a quality review, remaining within institutional guidelines.Good research skills related to the wider quality discourse, nationally and internationally, around best practice and alternate approaches to quality assurance in higher education.

Appropriate Masters QualificationA minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the area of Quality Assurance in which competency and expertise has been gained in the higher education or tertiary education sector or in statutory regulatory agencies such as the Council on Higher Education (CHE), South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) or Umalusi. Nelson Mandela University reserves the right not to make an appointment.
