PURPOSE: The Project Manager is responsible for managing contracts in such a way to reduce the likelihood of receiving claims from contractors, ensures that contractors deliver based on baselined project schedules through the various project resources and shared resources.
The incumbent oversees and manages the project deliverables and strategy in-line with program management objectives, and further oversees the project from the start through to completion, ensuring that work is completed on time and within its budget, safely.
The Project Manager reports to the Program Manager, coordinates, and manages the resources in his team both in the office and on site and interfaces with SPM, Engineering, Planning, Costing, Risk, and the Vendors through Procurement.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Audit Management Closely monitor contractor schedules, progress reports, site instructions and other project documents on an ongoing basis to determine progress against baselines (Performance)Implement corrective actions were required to correct gaps identified that can place a risk on Company.Business Operations Coordinate plans and estimates, including budgets and timescalesEnsure clear alignment of team.
Prepare and present documents as required.Agree any extra work to be done within set timescales and costs through Contracts manageFacilitate dispute resolution.
Closely align with client.Identify areas for improvement in existing processes and strive for excellence.Compliance, Governance and Assurance Ensure compliance to policies, systems, procedures, and legislation and adhere to sound corporate governance principles.Implement portfolio targets in alignment with legislation and charters (e.g.
Mining Charter, BBBEE, SHE, Covid-19 etc)Facilitate Quality Assurance on contracts and provide guidance to Contract SpecialistsIdentify and manage project risksEffective People Management Responsible to manage direct subordinates.
