IntroductionENERGY: ELECTRICITY GENERATION AND DISTRIBUTIONTCOE SALARY: R961 945 – R1 453 221 PER ANNUMREF NO: NRG 25/24Duties & ResponsibilitiesKey Performance Areas:Evaluation of Technical Tenders including examination of technical documentation, technical drawings and test certification, evaluation of technical merit of tenders for electricity distribution substation equipment, preparation and submission to tenderers of technical clarification letters, convening and chairing tender Bid Evaluation Committee meetings, making award recommendations for tenders and attending SCM Bid Adjudication Committee Meetings as BEC chairman to recommend and motivate tender awards.Equipment Tender contract management including managing and co-ordinating technical details of tender contracts for electrical distribution substation equipment including post-award engineering phase, approval of detailed technical drawings and other technical aspects prior to manufacture, liaising with equipment manufacturers regarding equipment details and requirements, reviewing and monitoring equipment delivery schedules, managing on-going equipment quality and compliance, and convening and chairing monthly contract meetings.Initiation and overall coordination of electricity distribution substation equipment training programme.Responsible for monitoring electricity distribution substation equipment performance, conducting technical investigations into equipment failures and providing general technical support.Supports Equipment Standards Specialist in management of Equipment Standards Section.Desired Experience & QualificationRequirements:B Eng or B Sc degree in Electrical Engineering or B Tech degree in Electrical Engineering (from an approved ECSA accredited institution).Must achieve professional registration with ECSA within three (3) years of appointment.Minimum of 5 years post graduate technical and managerial experience with extensive exposure to electrical distribution equipment and electrical distribution infrastructure, with particular emphasis and knowledge relating to MV distribution switchgear, transformers, miniature substations and substation ancillary equipment.Extensive knowledge of power system engineering and related disciplines and of the theoretical and practical aspects of electrical distribution equipment and technologies, and of related standards.Package & RemunerationR961 945 – R1 453 221 PER ANNUMInterested?Please apply online at www.capetown.gov.za/careers (external applicants) or via the SAP Portal (internal applicants), unless otherwise stated.By submitting your application for a position at the City of Cape Town, you are consenting to the use of your personal information provided as part of your application and/or Recruitment process for Recruitment and Selection purposes.
