Job Overview The Senior Procurement Officer will be responsible for non-stock surface materials procurement within the plant environment.
The role is critical in leading strategic sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing procurement processes to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of critical materials.
Key Responsibilities Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for non-stock surface materials.Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships.Compile and administer complex, high-value tenders in mining and processing plant environments.Optimize procurement processes to maximize cost-effectiveness.Conduct local, international, and low-cost country sourcing.Utilize integrated MRP systems for demand planning and procurement.Develop and maintain procurement strategies aligned with plant operational requirements.Conduct supplier performance evaluations and risk assessments.Negotiate contracts and manage procurement budgets.Qualifications Required: Diploma (NQF 6) in Supply Chain Management or Procurement Management.Advantageous: Advanced Diploma or Degree (NQF 7) in Supply Chain Management or Procurement Management.Experience 5-10 years in compiling and administering complex, high-value tenders in mining & processing plant environments.3-5 years of strategic sourcing experience (local, international, and low-cost countries).3-5 years of experience with integrated MRP systems and demand planning.Skills Advanced knowledge of procurement strategies.Proficiency in MRP and ERP systems.Strong negotiation and contract management skills.Analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and procurement software.Technical Competencies Tender management.Supplier relationship management.Cost optimization techniques.Demand forecasting.Risk assessment in procurement.Contract negotiation.Working Conditions Office-based with frequent plant site visits.Potential travel for international sourcing.Dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment.Reporting Structure Reports to: Plant Procurement Manager.Supervises: Procurement Support Staff.Performance Metrics Procurement cost savings.Supplier performance improvement.Tender efficiency.Strategic sourcing effectiveness.
