5* Luxury Hotel based in Cape Town is looking for an experienced and passionate
Senior Pastry CDP
to join their team. Your expertise in preparing a variety of mouth-watering desserts and pastries, combined with your creative flair in developing unique tastes and recipes, will be essential in delighting their customers.
As an ideal candidate, you should have a strong background in culinary arts and a genuine passion for creating sweet and delectable treats.

Responsibilities:
Communication & Conduct:
Attend and contribute to daily shift briefings to stay informed of operational needs.
Lead shift briefings in the absence of the Sous Chef.
Uphold and embody the company's Mission, Vision, and Values.
Foster open communication with supervisors and team members.
Promote a professional, engaging, and disciplined work environment.
Share insights, ideas, and suggestions during shift meetings.
Maintain a full, professional chef's uniform, adhering to hygiene and grooming standards.
Provide support and motivation to kitchen colleagues
Health & Safety:
Champion Health and Safety practices at all times.
Maintain personal knives and tools in pristine condition.
Follow strict hygiene practices per the company's Food Safety Programme.
Keep all kitchen areas clean, adhering to a clean-as-you-go approach.
Assist with deep cleaning and proper use of specialized cleaning products.
Stock Management:
Accurately request and manage storeroom requisitions to reduce excess visits.
Follow the FIFO (First In, First Out) system for stock rotation.
Ensure stock is appropriately stored and labeled.
Training & Development:
Engage in leadership development through managerial courses.
Provide coaching, support, and motivation to kitchen colleagues.
Actively pursue professional growth through on-the-job and formal training.
Complete mandatory training modules and maintain on-the-job training for peers.
Sustainability & Efficiency:
Minimize wastage and accurately record on the Winnow system.
Assist in kitchen-wide stock-taking as required.
Process fresh produce efficiently, maximizing yield and minimizing waste.
Food Quality & Control:
Maintain and elevate food preparation and presentation standards.
Contribute to enhancing guest satisfaction regarding food quality.
Ensure daily mise en place is checked for freshness and adherence to quality standards.
Perform assigned tasks promptly and to the highest standards.
Support colleagues to maintain consistent dish quality and presentation.
Follow guidelines to ensure all pastry production is high quality and served at appropriate temperatures.

Requirements and skills:
Strong knowledge of ingredients and international pastry techniques.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a luxury hotel setting.
Culinary school accreditation is a plus.
Food Hygiene and Safety certification.
Excellent communication skills and a guest-focused mindset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and inventory management systems.
Strong analytical skills and ability to implement ideas effectively.
Flexible with working hours and physically fit.
Ability to remain composed under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Problem-solving skills with an emphasis on proactive solutions.
Outstanding guest service skills.
