This position is responsible for planning and forecasting the merchandise range within the designated business unit of Weylandts.
This position will report to the Furniture Planning Lead and be based in Durbanville.
Main Accountabilities: Ensuring in-stock availability of product ranges for the relevant categories on a weekly basis.Identification of category opportunities.Review cost estimates for existing products.Proposal of new orders required (in conjunction with Buyer).Ongoing control of the spend to approved budget.Aligning historical and future product performance to forecast on a weekly and monthly basis, as well as for budgeting purposes annually.Responsible for range review, category, and competitor analysis.Range review: Preparing, analysing, and making recommendations that are aligned with budget as well as our strategy to meet targets.Rate of Sales: ensure correct and changes presented with reasoning.Forecasting for promotions with the buyer and department manager, as well as placing of promotional orders and track sell through.Develop and maintain effective clearance triggers and strategy.Liaising with information systems to design reports to ensure visibility of the correct information [i.e. stock, margin, availability].Critically appraise past successes and failures to identify risks and opportunities.Reassess current systems and processes and propose improvements.Manage stock levels through new orders and clearance sales / AOSUtilize data analytics tools to generate reports and dashboards that provide actionable. Identify patterns and anomalies to support decision-making and strategic planning.Technical Skills: Relevant certificate, diploma or degreeProven working experience as a MerchandisePlanner (5+ years), specifically dealing with replenishment.Proven track record in data analysis, forecasting, and inventory management.Good understanding of retail industryProficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI).Behavioural Competencies: Highly degree of numeracy, able to work with large volumes of dataStrong analytical skills – ability to think strategically & commerciallyAttention to detail, accuracy, disciplined to check workProficient in Microsoft ExcelTeam working and interpersonal skillsExcellent organisation skills and the ability to multitaskAbility to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
