Senior Manager: Strategic Sourcing (Heavy Manufacturing Raw Materials)

Job description: The Senior Manager: Strategic Sourcing is responsible for the development of the organization's sourcing strategy for raw materials and the implementation thereof across all business units.
The strategy shall span a period of three years and must be informed by the relevant technical operational requirements of each operating unit.
The manager will also work together with the Strategy team on the longer-term strategy (five to ten years).
Further, the strategy must be informed by current leading industry best practices and evolving market technologies relating to primary and secondary raw materials, scrap and logistics in the iron and steel making processes. This role is also responsible for the development of an appropriate sourcing strategy, informed by the ongoing assessment and development of market participants and their capabilities within the supply chain.
Finally, this role will be responsible for ensuring that operating units benefit from the lowest realized value in use cost of ownership pertaining to sourcing as required by operations.
Minimum requirementsQualifications: Applicable B. Honours or B. Eng Degree (NQF 8)Metallurgical discipline would be an added advantage, as well as,A Management Development Programme (Preferable) Experience: 12 years relevant experience in an operational environment or relevant technical environmentExperience within a Commercial environment, as well as, Supply Chain exposure or experience is a pre-requisite Knowledge: Sound metallurgical knowledge and supporting knowledge relating to Supply Chain managementKnowledge of value in use, continuous improvement and project management practicesUnderstand the role of procurement in a steelmaking environmentKnowledge of the principles of the Mining Charter and BBBEE (Codes of Good Practice) Personal Attributes: Able to work in a teamGood communication skillsAbility to work under pressureInnovative, intuitive with the ability to anticipate, interpret and unravel complex issues impacting on the raw material requirements within the organizationStrong ability to influence, inspire and motivate at organization-wide level on cost reduction models and initiatives.Proven ability to develop and maintain good human and interpersonal relations at all levels Skills: Advance knowledge in Office365 applications – especially Excel and Power BIAnalytical skills combined with problem solving skillsNegotiation, commercial and financial skills
