Finance DivisionThe Finance Division invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team.Main ObjectivesAs part of the management team of the Finance Division, the purpose of this job is to support the Director: Finance in developing and implementing strategies to achieve the division's and the University's strategic objective. The Senior Manager: Financial Control is responsible for maintaining a sound control environment related to statutory, regulatory, and internal policy requirements. The incumbent leads the Financial Accounting, Treasury, and Accounts Payable functions and manages, amongst others, the general ledger and balance sheet, statutory reporting, cash and investments, insurance, and accounting and auditing processes.The RequirementsB Com (Accounting) or similar degree at NQF Level 7, with postgraduate studies in Accounting at NQF Level 8 an advantage, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant CA(SA) a further advantage, with approximately nine (9) years relevant experience where such experience includes:At least five (5) years of management experience working with senior and middle management in an organizationExperience acquired in the finance division of a large organizationManaging annual audits and the preparation of Annual Financial Statements and supporting informationManaging the general ledger and balance sheet, and accounting policies and complianceTreasury functions, including cash-flow planning and management, bank liaison, short-term investment management, and a sound understanding of longer-term investment instrumentsAdministration and submission of VAT returns, engagement with SARS, and managing SARS auditsManaging an Accounts Payable or a Creditors functionDemonstration of advanced Excel skills for financial reporting and analysisWorking with ERP financial systems and report writersAn advantage shall be: Relevant experience within a higher education contextApplication ProcessIt is essential that prospective candidates read the job profile for further information and ensure that all relevant documentation is submitted.The following documents are required:A comprehensive CV and relevant qualifications which should include the following:Reasons for leaving your current and previous jobs.Referees who are and/or were your direct line manager, their title, name, designation and contact information which should include at least their contact number and email address.A strong and succinct motivation which tells us your interest in the post and suitability relative to the job requirements.Please note, no hand-written applications will be considered.
