To apply strategic media management, to protect and enhance the bank's reputation. Act as the interface between the bank and media in respect of key reputation themes and narratives; act as the key point of contact between Executives and the Newsroom, in partnership with the Head, Communications. Has a high appreciation for the use of digital media in the dissemination of stories and an understanding of media players as influencers in respect of social media.
Qualifications
Qualifications: A Degree Business Commerce, Communication PreferredExperience: Experience in strategic communication with emphasis on media relations and at a listed company, with a record of accomplishment of handling announcements, annual results, and crisis communication. Preferred 8-10 years.Proven experience in managing cross-geography communications, an understanding of the full communication value chain and ability to develop media relations strategies and to make recommendations to executive management. Strong analytical and data driven thinking. Creative ability and able to inspire creative solutions from key stakeholders. Additional Information Key Responsibilities: Design media plans to reflect the values of the organisation and build and enhance the bank's reputation with shareholders, investors, media, and clients. Design country-specific media plans that integrate business messaging into activities appropriate to and shaped for local requirements. Apply the strategic use of sector and product specialists across the business to demonstrate expertise and help build the reputation of the bank. Secure media coverage that reflects the group-wide reputation drivers and narrative. Drive a clear distinction between proactive versus reactive storytelling and media management Seed proactive stories aligned to the bank's reputational drivers and relative to external market developments. Manage crisis situations where required, including provision of advisory services to senior executive leadership.Keep abreast of all development in the external media both in SA and internationally to ensure that Standard Bank is well positioned, and management is kept up to date on key trends, informing proactive decision making. Keep executives informed of media issues and industry trends and advising them on possible action.Build and manage collaborative business relationships and partnerships with key external media to ensure that all external group media activities are leveraged to provide optimal value for the Standard Bank, and that all media coverage is aligned to and consistent with Group and BU strategies. Plan and manage content and context for all external media to maximise benefit to the bank while ensuring consistency of message, tone, style, and language.Promote external media opportunities throughout Standard Bank to ensure that the bank understands, effectively integrates, and harnesses media opportunities. Maintain an up to date knowledge of key financial media events both locally and internationally. Position the Bank and its executives at important forums and events with government and civil society to promote and optimise the profile of the Bank. Host key stakeholders to facilitate interaction between them and the Bank's executives and business units, to identify and address any concerns.Be an active participant in Group Marketing and Communications to help promote the Standard Bank brand among key stakeholders.
