JOB MISSION: The Senior Manager will be responsible for leading and managing our data engineering team to design, develop, and maintain our data infrastructure and systems. You will also collaborate with other business units to ensure our data management practices align with business goals and industry standards. This position involves working effectively with the business units with the primary mandate of enabling them with insights and decision support capabilities to drive good quality business decisions.REPORTS TO:Head of Business Intelligence Direct reports: Data EngineersTotal Staff (incl. also Indirect reports): 2-3 YOUR DAY TO DAY Operational Delivery:Gathers business requirements, executes projects and derives business insightsCollects data and builds fit for purpose dashboards and reports based on requirementsTroubleshooting of data issues and providing fit for purpose solutions with data engineering best practicesComplete projects/tasks assigned or working with other staff (internal/external) and following up on assigned projects/tasksPartnering with business stakeholders to unpack data management requirements and design for future requirements based on future needsCollaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure data quality, accuracy, and securityLead and manage a team of data engineers responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data infrastructure and systemsDesign and implement robust Extract Transform Load (ETL) frameworks and processes Design and implement robust data integration strategies and processesDevelop and implement data management (architecture and integration) policies, procedures, and best practicesManage data engineering projects and ensure timely delivery of high-quality resultsDevelop and implement databases, data collection systems and enable data analyticsAcquire and integrate data from different sources and enable integrated reportingRecruit, train, and mentor data engineering team members to promote growth and professional development requirements MINIMUM ROLE REQUIREMENTS: A Degree, or Higher National Diploma, or equivalent certification in an analytical field, eg Informatics, Data Science, CommerceMasters degree advantageousCertification advantageous (SQL, Data Engineering, Architecture, Ab Initio etc)6-10 years of experience in data engineering or a related fieldData warehousing and integration experience2+ years of experience in a management or leadership roleAbility to perform complex data analysis and data deep divesExcellent visualization skills and data storytelling capabilityAb Initio experience and proven experience in implementing solutionsSQL experience inclusive of SSAS, SSRS and SSIS advantageousStrong knowledge of data management concepts and technologies, including data modelling, ETL, data warehousing, and data visualizationKnowledge of business processes, IT processes, data, and associated applicationsExperience analysing and breaking down problems and information using structured frameworks and methodologiesRobust skills in documentation creation with a high attention to detail including planning and organizationAbility to think analytically and conduct customer-facing communications TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Data WarehousingData AnalysesProgrammingData MappingDashboarding and ReportingSQL BEHAVIOURIAL COMPETENCIES: AccountabilityTeamworkDelegationInterpersonal SupportPerseveranceMotivatingPrioritisationAnalytical ThinkingCommunication skills
