Senior Legal Counsel (79915)We are currently recruiting for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team in Kempton Park.Duties & ResponsibilitiesReport to:Areas of Responsibility:Support of DSV entities in South Africa and Sub-Sahara Africa in all legal matters.Contract support.Corporate compliance.Participation and support of review processes of contracts in case of M&A transactions.Success Criteria/KPIs:Timely and comprehensive response to assigned tasks.Execution of projects and day-to-day tasks.Focus on performance and deadlines.Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders.Tasks:The Senior Legal Counsel shall be the first local point of contact for queries inside and outside of the DSV organization regarding all legal matters concerning DSV entities in South Africa and Sub-Sahara Africa.Supporting local management on a daily basis.General corporate housekeeping, including ad hoc preparation training sessions for key stakeholders within the business.Monitoring changes in local legislation.Dealings with local authorities, if required.Assisting Group Credit and local credit departments with managing the process of recovery of bad debt in collaboration with External Legal Counsel.Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts in accordance with DSV's Contractual Compliance Manual.Supporting and managing litigation (pre-litigation, trial, and/or transactions) in collaboration with Group Legal and External Legal Counsel.Supporting the Group Customs department as well as local customs team on customs-related matters, if required.Supporting local teams of international freight forwarders in accordance with DSV's Export Controls Policy, if required.Responsible for reporting claims timely to various centralized Group HQ Departments (Group Finance, Group Insurance, and Group Legal).Facilitating communication with External Legal Counsel.Ensuring compliance with corporate policies.Providing reporting of contract-related information in Weekly Reports as well as Significant Issues Report.Key Stakeholders:Local Management Team including MDs for each business unit and the CFO.Sales and Operational Teams of each business unit.Desired Experience & QualificationsLLB Degree.At least 5 years of experience as in-house counsel or as a lawyer.Experience in transport and logistics.Experience in international negotiation of commercial contracts.Knowledge and experience of Privacy Laws and Regulations with the ability to provide training to key stakeholders.Fluent in English – oral and written.Experience in the use of MS Office – particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Ability to balance quality and deadlines (Critical job factor).Structured approach to work (Critical job factor).Strong personality with the ability to communicate effectively (Critical job factor).Able to plan a project and drive execution.Calm under pressure.Communicative and outward.Able to cooperate with colleagues across geography, functions, and culture.Package & RemunerationMarket RelatedDisclaimerDue to the high volume of applications received, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
