WE ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW TEAM MEMBER! JOIN US! LSEG is looking to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel to join Markets Legal Team. The successful candidate should have a proven record of client service and a practical, problem-solving approach to support the business globally. They will be a hands-on and proactive general commercial lawyer to provide specialist and strategic legal advice to the Group's Markets Division. This role is based in Johannesburg and reports to a senior Markets counsel based in London.WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?Supporting the business with a wide range of legal advice across all jurisdictions, becoming a subject matter expert and go-to person for all sales team enquiries.Collaborating with senior lawyers on strategic and corporate initiatives, and regulatory analysis.Drafting and negotiating agreements with customers, vendors, partners and other third parties, including data licenses, software and intellectual property licenses, intercompany and outsourcing agreements and other commercial agreements.Support on litigation, regulatory and trading venue disciplinary matters and complaints from market participants.Coordinating and working with outside counsel and managed legal services, acting as a point of escalation for legal issues.Responsible for maintaining, updating and revising contract template agreements, rule books and supporting process improvement and automation within the Legal team.Working closely with Compliance, implementing internal controls, policies and procedures to increase efficiencies and assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, corporate policies and ethical standards.WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?4+ years' experience at a reputable law firm / in-house legal team.Experience in the field of financial regulation is desirable.Willingness to develop knowledge of current and developing legal issues, the regulatory environment and trends in Markets and develop a good understanding of the Markets business.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong contract negotiation and drafting abilities, with the ability to understand and simplify complex concepts and issues.Excellent planning, organisational, analytical and decision-making skills, ability to handle projects.Strong skills to work both collaboratively and independently.Sound administrative and time management skills, with sharp attention to detail.Strong interpersonal skills and capability to build strong, trusted and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across different functions and cultures; judgement, tact and discretion when dealing with people and issues.WHY JOIN US?A Diverse and Inclusive Workforce: an ability to work within a global, diverse and inclusive company with 300 years heritage and 25,000 people; We have a variety of Inclusion Networks who are a powerful lever of belonging, Plus an Employee Referral Bonus Scheme.Constant Learning: 90 Day Sales On-Boarding Program, e-learning platform, a range of workshops, Access to real-time economic data.Professional Development: Quarterly Connects to ensure you meet your Goals & Objectives.Focus on Wellbeing: A hybrid working model, we promote physical health and provide access to Mental Health Support, private medical healthcare, corporate pension plan, Daily "Me Hour", Annual wellness allowance.Make An Impact: 2 Volunteer Days a Year to Help Make the World a Better Place, Matched Fundraising.LSEG is a leading global financial markets infrastructure and data provider.
