About the job Senior Legal Counsel - FMCG - MidrandOur client, a leader in FMCG, has an opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel with over 5 years of experience providing expert legal advice in the FMCG sector. Proficient in handling complex legal issues, regulatory compliance, contract management, and dispute resolution.Adept at managing legal risks, developing and implementing legal strategies, and ensuring the company's operations adhere to applicable laws and regulations. A strategic thinker with strong negotiation and communication skills, committed to safeguarding the company's interests while enabling business growth.Key Responsibilities:Provide strategic legal advice to relevant business divisions on a wide range of legal issues, including commercial contracts, property, and employment law.Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, distributors, and other key stakeholders to ensure favourable terms and mitigate legal risks.Ensure business divisions comply with local and international regulations, including food safety standards, consumer protection laws, and environmental regulations.Manage and resolve disputes and litigation, representing the company in negotiations, arbitrations, and court proceedings as necessary.Collaborate with the HR department on employment law matters, including some dispute resolution.Develop and implement internal legal policies and procedures to ensure the company's operations adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance working environment.Experience and Qualifications:Admitted Attorney.Minimum of at least 5+ years PQE in an in-house counsel role.Sound knowledge of contract law, drafting and reviewing agreements.Required to perform site visits.Strong ability to handle high-paced environment and stressful situations.
