ELIGIBILITY: Suitable qualified candidates CLOSING DATE: 11.11.2024 REFERENCE NUMBER: CM 18/24 ext SALARY: TCOE: R 1005233.00 p.a DEPARTMENT: Legal Services DIRECTORATE: OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER Senior Legal Advisor – Procurement Law Unit Requirements: A Law degree - an Admitted Attorney or Bar Advocate A minimum of 5 years post admission experience Experience in a relevant legal environment Computer literacy in MS office suite Legal research, advisory and contract drafting skills Sound knowledge of local government, legislation, policies and procedures A valid Code EB driver's license Proven civil litigation experience Procurement Law and alternative dispute resolution experience will be advantageous Key Performance Areas: Provide legal advice on legal issues to line departments and Council structures by drafting and furnishing opinions or legal assistance Manage the resolution of legal disputes at court and other forums and ensure adequate representation of the City's interests Consult, research, draft, scrutinise and amend agreements according to client's specifications, legislation, policy and delegated authority utilising approved precedents Provide guidance and advice at council meetings and to line departments Attend to correspondence and enquiries regarding services, systems and ongoing legal projects
