Job Description PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Senior Lecturer: Provide teaching and learning services as well as a research function.
Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies, ensuring required throughput and achieving student-lecturer evaluation scores in accordance with the university's expectations.Research Research outputs as to be discussed with programme leader and deputy director.Community Engagement Actively contribute to community engagement projects as part of the School of Accounting Sciences.Minimum Requirements A Master of Commerce in Accountancy or equivalent (NQF level 9).A member of SAICA as a CA(SA).A minimum of three (3) years' experience in the field as an Accountant.A minimum of two (2) years' experience in teaching Accountancy at a SAICA-accredited university.RECOMMENDATIONS Published articles in accredited journals.Key Functional/Technical Competencies A working knowledge of essential technical competencies required in the field of accountancy including accounting, auditing, management accounting, financial management and taxation.Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments.Knowledge of the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research.Interest in community service.Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.Behavioural Competencies Professional and ethical behaviour.Adaptability / Agility.ENQUIRIES REGARDING JOB CONTENT MAY BE DIRECTED TO: Prof. Nico van der Merwe on 0182991351
