Minimum Requirements: - A relevant Doctoral Degree - A teaching qualification - At least 3 years experience in higher education, - Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in the area of Music - A record of accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Senior Lecturer - Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Masters/Doctoral supervision commensurate with the academic rank of Senior Lecturer Added Advantages - Specialization areas of history and theory of jazz, jazz piano, orchestration and arrangement, jazz ensemble, aural or general musicianship; - Basic theoretical knowledge of Opera, Choral Music Studies including Choir Conducting, Choir Management, and Historical Studies in Classical Voice; - Researching/performing Opera, and/or Choral Music. - Qualification/courses in higher education teaching and learning - Evidence of successful external fundraising for research. - Evidence of supporting early career academics. - Recognition in a chosen area of research (e.g., NRF rating). - Evidence of networking and collaboration beyond one institution in research and/or teaching - Evidence of community engagement integrated with teaching, learning or research Duties: - Participate in research; curriculum design, development, and implementation - Teach undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in music (with an emphasis on a spectrum of Jazz related modules) - Meet research publication requirements for the academic rank of senior lecturer level - Secure external research grants - Supervise postgraduate students - Establish institutional, regional or national collaborations - Contribute to mentorship of emergent academic staff - Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research - Participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty and university levels.
