CORE PURPOSE OF JOB The core purpose of this academic post is to facilitate the learning process in Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, Taxation and related subject areas for students on our Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Accountancy programmes and provide supervision at postgraduate level.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Facilitate the learning process in Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, Taxation and related subject areas (by taking responsibility for course material, lectures, tutorials ad setting and moderating assessments) for students on our Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Accountancy programmes both day and evening groups and on various Gqeberha campuses.Undertake research and scholarly activities.Engage with professional bodies and other stakeholders.Perform related administrative duties.CORE COMPETENCIES A sound knowledge in the theory and application of Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, Taxation and related subject areas.Potential to facilitate learning for undergraduate and postgraduate students.Potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by research and publication.Very strong communication (written / verbal) skills.Initiative and the motivation to work without needing extensive supervision.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team.Strong administrative skills.REQUIREMENTS In order to be considered for the above post on LECTURER LEVEL, candidates must:
possess a relevant NQF Level 9 qualification (Masters) with Financial Accounting, Management Accounting or Taxation as core with at least three years lecturing experience on both undergraduate and postgraduate level and have a sound research portfolio; ANDbe a Professional Accountant (South Africa), Chartered Accountant (South Africa) or Chartered Managerial Accountant (CMA) in good standing with the relevant professional body.OR In order to be considered for the above post on SENIOR LECTURER LEVEL, candidates must:
possess a relevant NQF Level 9 (Masters) qualification with Financial Accounting, Management Accounting or Taxation as core with at least 5 years lecturing experience on both undergraduate and postgraduate level and have a sound research portfolio; ANDbe a Professional Accountant (South Africa), Chartered Accountant (South Africa) or Chartered Managerial Accountant (CMA) in good standing with the relevant professional body.Nelson Mandela University reserves the right not to make an appointment.
