The Department of the Secondary and Post-School Education invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team.
The Department
The Department of Secondary and Post School Education offers pre-service, in-service, and post-graduate programs in teacher education in secondary education. The incumbent will be expected to play an academic role in these programs.
Main Objectives
All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), community engagement, and professional involvement in their field beyond the university, recognizing differences in executing these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University levels.
The Requirements
A PhD in Education relevant to Educational Leadership and Management (ELM), and:
At least three years of experience in Teacher Education
At least two years of experience in schools
Teaching experience in Education Studies (e.g. Psychology, Sociology or Philosophy of Education)
Research supervision experience at PhD level
Track record in administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).

Short-listing meeting scheduled for the 18th November 2024.
The selection process that will be followed for this post will include an assessment and/or presentation and an interview.
Shortlisted candidates will be informed of the interview date.
Remuneration per annum (Grade SL):
Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R742 411
Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R960 928
