The Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology is seeking to appoint someone at the Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor level and invites suitably qualified candidates to apply.
The successful candidate will be required to assume leadership of curriculum development within the discipline.
The Requirements
Candidates are required to hold a PhD in Microbiology or a related discipline, with teaching and research experience in Environmental Microbiology or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in Mycology.
Senior Lecturer
Teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels required.
Research supervision of at least Masters' degrees required.
Emerging national profile in discipline.
Track record of research publication.
Proven track record of administration, management, and leadership roles in teaching, assessment, curriculum development, research and community engagement.
Associate Professor
Considerable teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Research supervision of at least Masters' degrees required.
National and emerging international profile in discipline.
Track record of research publication.
Proven track record of administration, management, and leadership roles in teaching, assessment, curriculum development, research and community engagement.
Professor
Extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Research supervision of Masters and PhD degrees required.

Remuneration per annum
Senior Lecturer:
Annual Basic salary: R742,411.00 per annum
Approximate annual cost to company: R958,719.00 per annum
Associate Professor:
Annual Basic salary: R887,318.00 per annum
Approximate annual cost to company: R1,138,361.00 per annum
Professor:
Annual Basic salary: R1,086,915.00 per annum
Approximate annual cost to company: R1,385,804.00 per annum
