Job Summary: The Senior IT Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the day to day operations of the IT Helpdesk and being the escalation point for the Junior IT Administrator/IT Administrator.
They are also responsible for leading specific projects allocated.
Responsibilities: Local and remote support of global users and system platforms.
Onboarding presentations and offboarding new users and leavers (when needed).
Support and configuration of cloud services - AZURE, Microsoft Office 365, Google Drive.
Setup of SAML Apps / Google SSO for systems available.
Installation, configuration and maintenance of system hardware and external and internal software and applications.
Daily IT support, desktop/laptop and server support where escalated by Junior IT Administrator/IT Administrator.
Escalation point for the IT Helpdesk ticketing queue and provide updates and solutions.
Implement automation and AI into the organization to automate anything that is humanly possible.
Liaising with vendors as well as finding new vendors to improve our IT processes and procedures globally.
Contributing to and working on general People team projects as required (from a technical aspect).
Network/server setup and maintenance.
Skills: Adaptability & Learning Mindset - Ability to be open to change in terms of daily work as well as open to upskilling oneself continuously to keep up with IT trends.
Customer Service Orientation - Ability to work with all levels of staff and provide a top-notch customer service experience by listening, understanding and resolving IT queries by providing effective resolutions, along with proactive communication.
Attention to Detail - Ensuring that all tasks are double-checked to ensure consistent high-quality output.
Mentoring - Ability to mentor, listen and guide the Junior IT Administrator.
Knowledge: Networking: Understanding and managing network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and network protocols.
System Administration: Proficiency in administering and maintaining operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or macOS.
This includes user management, security, software installation, system monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Virtualization: Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMware or VirtualBox to create and manage virtual machines (VMs) for efficient resource utilization.
Cloud Computing: Basic familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Security: Strong knowledge of IT security principles, including access control, encryption, vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection, and incident response.
Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect systems and data.
IT Project Management: Proficiency in managing IT projects, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex IT issues efficiently, employing methodologies like root cause analysis and systematic troubleshooting techniques.
Talents: Ability to be supportive of all levels of staff when dealing with IT Helpdesk tickets.
Ability to self-teach and troubleshoot when needed before escalating to the IT Manager.
