QualificationsTo excel in this role, you will need:
Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial and retail interiors, with a strong track record of successfully implemented projects.Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) as a draughtsman, preferably in an architectural or interior design context.Technical Skills: Expertise in space planning, architecture, and construction drawings.Advanced knowledge of design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Twinmotion, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.Proficiency in creating detailed architectural and interior design drawings.Familiarity with 3D modeling and rendering software is a plus.BIM qualification and BIM manager qualification.Knowledge: Understanding of RIBA project stages (advantageous but not mandatory).Strong understanding of MEP services and the ability to coordinate interior design with MEP.Strong knowledge base of materials and finishes.Knowledge of building codes and regulations.Soft Skills: Excellent communication and project management skills.Excellent time management skills with the ability to stick to briefs and deadlines.High emotional intelligence (EQ).Ability to manage teams, work collaboratively, and solve problems effectively.Key Sections of a Project1. Material SpecificationSelection and Documentation: Identify and specify appropriate materials for various applications within the project, considering factors such as durability, aesthetics, cost, and sustainability.Vendor Coordination: Liaise with suppliers to obtain samples, quotes, and ensure timely delivery of materials.Compliance: Ensure all specified materials meet relevant codes and standards.2. Technical DrawingsCreation and Management: Produce detailed architectural and interior design drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details.Accuracy: Ensure drawings are accurate and reflect the design intent and specifications.Updates: Regularly update drawings to reflect changes in design or project requirements.3. Revit Drawing3D Modeling: Utilize Revit for creating comprehensive 3D models of the project, integrating architectural, structural, and MEP components.Coordination: Ensure Revit models are coordinated with other disciplines to avoid conflicts and streamline the construction process.Documentation: Generate construction documents and schedules directly from the Revit model.4. BIM ManagementImplementation: Lead the implementation and management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes throughout the project lifecycle.Standards: Maintain and enforce BIM standards and protocols to ensure consistency and accuracy.Collaboration: Facilitate collaboration among all stakeholders using BIM tools to improve project coordination and reduce errors.5. Engineering Coordination DrawingsIntegration: Coordinate with engineering teams to integrate their drawings and specifications with the overall design.Conflict Resolution: Identify and resolve conflicts between architectural, structural, and MEP systems through coordinated drawings.Compliance: Ensure all coordination drawings adhere to relevant codes and standards.6. FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) FinishesSoft Finishes: Select and specify soft finishes such as fabrics, upholstery, and window treatments that enhance the interior environment.Hard Finishes: Choose hard finishes including flooring, wall coverings, and countertops that meet the functional and aesthetic requirements of the project.Technical Finishes: Identify technical finishes like acoustic panels, specialized coatings, and high-performance materials to address specific project needs.Specification and Procurement: Document detailed specifications for all FF&E items and manage the procurement process to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
