One of our listed mining clients is looking for an experienced and skilled Senior Instrument Technician that will be based at their fabrication/manufacturing site in Fochville (Head Quarters) with regular visits/travel to various mining operations across South Africa, including international travel (all within reason).Job PurposeTo implement, monitor, and supervise the day-to-day maintenance and repair of control & instrumentation equipment in accordance with the set specifications, standards, and safety procedures to ensure optimal plant availability.
The role provides technical support for efficient and effective installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of control and instrument plant equipment in accordance with procedures to ensure plant availability and safety.QualificationsInstrument Mechanician / Technician Trade Test and/or NDip / B.
Tech / Engineering Degree in Electrical Light Current or Instrumentation and/or N6 diploma.ECSA Registration as a professional Engineering Technician will be advantageous.At least 5 years' experience as an instrument technician in a mining or manufacturing environment.Matric.Duties & ResponsibilitiesRepair, install, and maintain field instruments: Pressure, flow, temperature, speed, pneumatic and hydraulic valves, and mass instruments.Perform report writing and data trend analysis for reliable plant performance.Conduct fault finding and modify programs on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).Perform weekly inspections.Conduct fault finding on HMI's.Replace and repair variable speed drives.Maintain process control loops.Perform first line maintenance with regards to instrumentation breakdowns.Seniority LevelMid-Senior levelEmployment TypeFull-timeIndustriesFabricated Metal Products, Engineering Services, and Agriculture, Construction, Mining Machinery Manufacturing
