Responsibilities:
Project Monitoring & Support: Monitor the progress and performance of project discipline teams, providing feedback and support, and managing design scope changes.
Technical & Commercial Oversight: Provide direction on design quality, schedules, and budgets; review feasibility studies, tenders, and contractor documentation to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness.
Team & Resource Management: Set and review man-hour budgets, allocate work, assess staff suitability, and recommend additional manning as needed; drive professional development of team members.
Reporting & Documentation: Ensure all project correspondence is recorded, produce progress reports, conduct design group meetings, and provide timely updates on project discussions and achievements.
Qualifications:
B. Tech. / B.Eng. in Civil Engineering
Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA
Knowledge and Experience:
Minimum of 10 to 15 years civil infrastructure design experience in the mining and minerals industry, preferably worked within an EPC/EPCM engineering environment.
Detail engineering of roads, terracing, stormwater, ponds, and network analysis of water and sewer pipelines.
Detail engineering of non-process facilities (offices, change houses, temporary and permanent housing facilities, etc.).
Site experience: construction.
Technical competence in terms of core engineering theory from first principles and ability to extend theory to new and complex problems.
Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of word processors, databases, spreadsheets, and discipline-related application software.
Understanding of South African and common International standards and regulatory authority requirements in the mining and minerals processing sector.
