Our client, a leading player in the steel fabrication industry, dedicated to excellence in steel processing and manufacturing, is currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Industrial Engineer with a strong background in steel processing to join their team.
Requirements:
Completed bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
6+ years of experience in industrial engineering, with a significant focus on steel processing or heavy manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of steel production processes, including rolling, forming, cutting, and heat treatment.
Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
Proficiency in process optimization techniques, including lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead complex projects from conception to completion.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Experience with CAD software, process simulation tools, and ERP systems is a plus.
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage process improvement initiatives within the steel processing plant, focusing on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
Analyse and optimize production workflows, equipment utilization, and material flow to maximize productivity.
Develop and implement strategies for reducing waste, energy consumption, and downtime in steel processing operations.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues and identify areas for improvement.
Utilize lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other industrial engineering methodologies to enhance operational performance.
Oversee the design, testing, and implementation of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and production staff.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control procedures.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports on process improvements and operational efficiency.
