Direct message the job poster from ZEDA LimitedTalent Acquisition at Avis Budget Rental & LeasingCore purpose of the roleTo support the Group Finance Manager to deliver the consolidation and reporting activities for the Zeda Group.
This includes the updating of reporting systems ensuring that they are IFRS compliant.
The Senior IFRS specialist will also be required to support the business with Technical Accounting opinions for significant transactions and drive accounting update training for finance managers.Key deliverables and outputsFinancial Reporting and Technical AccountingManage the day-to-day financial year end process and the internal/external audit relationships together with the group FMPrepare and analyse financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standardsConduct regular financial reviews and provide valuable insights to the financial managersSupport the group FM in overseeing the consolidation process for the group's financial statementsAssist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plansMonitor and analyse variances between actual financial results (year on year variances/interim variances)Identify areas of improvement in financial processes and implement best practicesEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standardsPrepare Annual Financial Statements and financial reporting elements of the Integrated Annual Report.OperationalLiaise with investor relations, collating the financial information provided to investor relations by finance and review/contribute to investor presentationsProvide technical accounting guidance to the Zeda group and defend these positions to the external auditors/JSE as may be requiredIdentify areas within the finance team where technical training is required and facilitate such training at least annuallyCreate and maintain internal accounting policies and the internal accounting control environment, based on best practiceAssist with the preparation of the statutory reporting requirements to shareholders (e.g.
provisional and interim reports as well as annual financial statements and the annual integrated report) as well as internal reporting, including governance reporting to board/audit committeesAssist with ad hoc consolidation tasks and take ownership of certain complex areas of disclosure e.g.
IFRS 3/9/15/16 disclosures across the divisionRun with ad hoc reporting projects to drive efficiencies and standardization and implement new accounting standards/guidance consistently across the divisionCoordinate technical accounting efforts across the business and provide support in determining the accounting implications of proposed transactions/contracts which maintain a commercial mindsetResponsible for technical accounting support of the business which is fundamental to external reporting including, but not limited to, audit committee reporting, interim and annual financial statements and our integrated annual reportingMonitor and support initiatives to improve key business metrics, margins and driversManage the business' external audit processReview and provide accounting technical opinions on diverse transactions/contractsExecute ad hoc assignments as required by Exco and/or Board/finance teamsPrepare reports and presentations for Audit Committee, Exco and Board and investor communicationsManage and implement new accounting standards projects of across the business.Stakeholders (internal & external customers, suppliers, shareholders, communities)Liaise with GM Finance, Finance Manager Car Sales, Group Controller, Senior Taxation Manager, Finance Risk, Snr Manager Corporate Finance and Treasury and Assurance and respond directly to their finance related queriesExternal auditorsInternal Auditors.EmployeesMentor team members in area of professional specializationManage multi-disciplinary project teams.Internal and External StakeholdersThe role requires close engagement and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.Academic QualificationsCA (SA)Valid Driver's License.Work ExperienceMinimum of 3-4 Years post Articles Experience in related functions areas.This job requires that the employee maintains the highest level of Honesty and Integrity as he/she will have access to company assets, cash handling and confidential record storage areas.
