Minimum requirements for the role: Must have Diploma in Environmental Health or Occupational Health and Safety SAMTRAC or OHS Act Training is advantageous Minimum 2 years experience within the chemical manufacturing industry Experience in Health and Safety standards and processes is essential Must have knowledge of the OHS Act, Regulations, and Risk Assessment techniques Ability to conduct audits, investigate incidents, and compile comprehensive reports.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: Supporting compliance with the HSE Management System requirements.
Supporting the implementation and compliance with company HSE Policies, Standards, and Processes.
Supporting the implementation and compliance with legal requirements relevant to the site.
Supporting and driving the HSE Objectives.
Conducting Workplace Risk Assessments and following up on actions to address the gaps identified.
Assessing Occupational Hygiene controls and recommending improvements needed to comply with the companys and legal requirements.
Managing PPE inventory and ensuring PPE is available for all employees and visitors.
Coordinating and supporting H&S training: scheduling, conducting, and maintaining records.
Ensuring Induction training is conducted for all employees, visitors, and contract workers, and ensuring that induction training material is always updated and relevant.
Conducting monthly HSE audits and ensuring actions are implemented and effective.
Managing the Enablon IM&L program and following up on the closure of observations, near-misses, and incidents.
Ensuring that all incidents are being reported, documented, investigated, and improvements recommended are implemented.
Managing the Go & See program by ensuring that Go & See sessions are scheduled, cards are available, and actions are raised in Enablon.
Promoting and implementing actions necessary to ensure HSE cultural and behavioural improvements.
Supporting the HSE Chairperson with HSE Committee meetings and ensuring actions are followed through.
Managing the Occupational Hygiene program by ensuring that surveys are conducted as per legal requirements.
Managing the Hand Safety, Legionella, and chemical exposure programs, along with any other program identified as necessary for health and safety.
Conducting respirator face-fit testing and training for employees.
Ensuring emergency management equipment is available, inspected, and maintained in good condition.
Performing any other reasonable duties as required by the HSEQ Manager.
Managing the disposal of biological hazardous waste in line with legislation.
Keeping records of all HSE-related activities, including but not limited to training, surveys, audits, and communication.
Supporting the HSEQ Manager in maintaining legal compliance for the site.
Implementing the communication strategy and ensuring it is followed through.
