SENIOR HOT METAL CRANE CONTROLLERSA STEELWORKS - AIRPORT INDUSTRIA – CAPE TOWNThe Group has a Senior Crane Controller position available.
The successful candidate will provide support to SA Steelworks Meltshop Department.
Applicants will be required to complete a skills test, only candidates with an average of 70% can successfully apply for the vacancy.
(SHIFT POSITION) Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Manage the operation of a variety of material-moving equipment dailyResponsible for the inspection of machines and equipment on a daily basisPerforming routine maintenance procedures and minor repairs as required and initiate additional repair requests from mechanics when necessary.Control cranes, lifts and other equipment using standard operating procedures to ensure effective transportation of materials and safety for all personnel on site.Collaborate together with the Line manager and supervisors to optimize usage of the overhead craneCreate and update detailed log of material transportation operationsProvide additional support to other crane operators as necessaryOperate overhead crane to transport metallurgical vessels filled with liquid steel.Manage all crane activity in the Meltshop at all timesMust enforce and practice housekeeping policiesEffectively monitor production process to achieve set daily targets and to minimize down time.Ability to analyze potential failures and communicate accordingly with possible solutions in a timeous mannerAbiding by the regulations as set out in Occupational Health and Safety Act and company policiesAdhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) as per tasks assignedApplicants must have the following qualifying criteria:Matric (Maths Compulsory)Minimum of 4 years working experience with a valid overhead crane license and in a similar environment.Excellent manual dexterity, flexibility and physical strength.Excellent depth perception, hand-eye coordination and a fast reaction timeIntermediate knowledge of lifting, hooking principles and practiceAbility to detect machine discrepanciesExperience working in the steel industry advantageousAbility to work under pressure in a demanding environmentMust be able to work SHIFTS overtimeGood communication skillsExcellent time managementComputer Literate
