Enjoy a dynamic work environment where each day presents new challenges and opportunities.Job PurposeTo ensure that relevant, high-quality spatial data is available in a timely manner for various analytical processes.To understand the business requirements for spatial data, the related data flow and systems that generate the data required as well as the properties, profile and behaviour of the data.The primary goal is to enable the business to solve complex problems through the use of internal and 3rd party data and transform it into forms that make it usable and enables the decision-making processes and provides insights to business.Job ResponsibilitiesAnalyse current operational processes to help design and build GIS solutions to gain efficiencies and reduce manual workflows.Build ArcGIS Portal Maps, ArcGIS Dashboards and ArcGIS Portal App solutions for data delivery, collaboration, and analytics.Work to enrich current datasets in the corporate enterprise geodatabase by identifying and filling gaps.Build relationships and solutions with business customers which spans across the enterprise.Utilize Big Data infrastructure along with spatial data to perform spatial-temporal analytics and develop unique and original solutions to business problems.Generate geographic data reports and visualizations.Provide technical support and training for GIS software users.Promote knowledge management and enhance team success by sharing data-driven insights and ensuring accurate information dissemination to stakeholders, utilizing data science and engineering knowledge.Liaise with business stakeholders to elicit and understand data requirements and translate them into technical analytical tasks, aligning efforts with business needs.Execute advanced SQL queries and other technical analyses to support data investigation and reporting.Develop and execute comprehensive data quality checks to identify anomalies or inconsistencies in data, and identify patterns, relationships, and trends that impact data management and utilization.Support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives, and values.Contribute to the Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc.).Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy.Identify and drive opportunities to improve business processes, models, and systems through agile thinking.Provide Overall Data Management Guidance and alignment to Nedbank's Data Management framework and standards.Essential Qualifications - NQF LevelBachelors degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or related degree such as Geography, Computer Science, Analytics or Data Management.Preferred QualificationsHonours degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or related degree such as Geography, Computer Science, Analytics or Data ManagementMinimum Experience LevelTotal number of years of experience: 5+ yearsType of experience:Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management and data profiling tools.Skills in cleaning and preparing data for analysis to ensure accuracy and consistencyExperience with data warehousing solutions to store and manage large volumes of dataFirm understanding of ArcGIS Pro and ArcPortalFirm understanding of data management and governance practices.Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Technical / Professional KnowledgeData AnalysisProficiency in advanced GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL).Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office stackKnowledge in PowerBIProficient with data standards and concepts such as data quality and data profilingStrong time management, organisational and communication skillsStrong understanding of spatial analysis, cartography, and geospatial data managementDisclaimerPreference will be given to candidates from the underrepresented groups
