For this particular role, our client is an investment company with a wide range of businesses in Hospitality and Food & Beverage.
The company is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior General Counsel to oversee its legal and compliance functions across all its businesses.
As the General Counsel , you will be responsible for leading the company's legal department, providing expert legal advice, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations (both local and international), and managing legal risks across the organisation.
You will play a key role in shaping the company's legal strategy and ensuring its legal affairs align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities Reporting directly to the CEO, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Leading and managing the legal team, providing oversight and guidance on all legal matters, Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and governance requirements, including international laws (e.g., UK regulations), Advising senior management on legal risks, opportunities, and regulatory developments, Managing disputes, litigation, and external counsel relationships when necessary, Developing and implementing company policies to mitigate legal risks and ensure business continuity, Supporting the company's corporate governance framework, including board resolutions, shareholder meetings, and regulatory filings, Collaborating with internal departments, including HR, operations, and finance, to ensure legal compliance across all functions.
Requirements Qualifications and Skills As an ideal candidate, you must have the following: A Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) and admission as an attorney or advocate, Minimum 8 -10 years of experience in corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance, Experience in managing legal matters for a diverse portfolio of businesses, preferably within the hospitality and food & beverage sectors, In-depth knowledge of both local and international legal requirements, including governance and compliance for UK entities, Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage a legal team and collaborate with various departments, Proficiency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
