Description
We are seeking a Senior Fund Accountant (SFA), German speaking is preferred in the Johannesburg Global Service Centre (GSC) .
The SFA will support a growing team that provid es a full suite of fund accounting and financial reporting services to our clients. The role will include accounting and financial reporting, NAV reporting and fund administration duties for our portfolio of clients. Furthermore , the SFA is expected to play a role in the supervision, development and m entoring of junior team members.
Key responsibilities
Provide day-to-day fund accounting and financial reporting services to a portfolio of Private Equity clients and structures, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures; Working with Managers and Assistant Managers (the Manager) in the GSC and offshore location s , to ensure the planning, coordination and completion of monthly, quarterly and annual NAVs, Management Reporting and any Ad-Hoc reporting requests; Ensuring that all day-to-day tasks are monitored and completed in a timely and satisfactory manner ; Working closely with the client and Apex colleagues to ensure that transactions are understood to ensure accurate capturing; Preparation of management accounts and financial statements in compliance with the relevant accounting standard ( eg IFRS and GAAP ); Assist with the s upervision and training of Fund Accountants including the review of sections of work as delegated by the Manager ; Assist with the p reparation of capital call workings and distribution workings of the Funds ; Assisting the external auditors to ensure the audit is executed i n a timely and efficient manner ; Performing any additional tasks that may be required in the support of the on-going management and development of the division .
Skills / experience
BCom Accounting Degree (or similar) German speaking is preferential SAICA, SAIPA articles advantageous ; Proficient in MS Excel; Structur ed and detail orientated; Good analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; Ability to prioritise work and meet strict deadlines; Excellent communication and organisation skills; Motivated and driven; and 2-5 years relevant accounting experience (preferably close-ended fund accounting) .
