Senior Financial Accountant

An innovative property and construction company with a global client base is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their team on-site in Durban. As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing accurate management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly consolidated reports, ensuring full compliance with IFRS and tax regulations. You'll also manage detailed financial analysis, VAT reconciliations, tax computations, and liaise with auditors and SARS, playing a key role in financial reporting and ensuring smooth operational workflows. Key Responsibilities: Prepare accurate management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations in line with IFRS. Calculate lease smoothing adjustments for new tenant agreements. Conduct general ledger analysis and support special journal entries. Post month-end journals, including depreciation, accruals, and bond interest. Perform analytical reviews of balance sheets and income statements. Compile monthly consolidated management accounts for the property group. Ensure timely and accurate property payments (rent, bonds, utilities) and reconcile statements. Review bond reconciliations, including amortisation and interest rate adjustments. Manage group loan and inter-company matrices and maintain the Property Asset Register. Prepare South African income tax and VAT reconciliations, handle VAT 201 submissions, and manage tax computations in compliance with laws. Qualifications and Experience: Qualified AGA (SA) or Professional Accountant (SA) Minimum of 3-5 years of Post Article Experience Property, construction and logistics industry-related experience is required. Leadership and team management experience with strong communication skills. Experience working on the financial accounts of multiple companies in a group structure. Knowledge of IFRS and IFRS for SMEs with strong tax knowledge (provisional tax, income tax, VAT and PAYE). Strong Excel skills. Salary: R540 000 - R720 000 / annum CTC depending on the candidate
