Role Purpose The purpose of the Senior Equity Analyst role ensures that the research function is carried out to provide market and business intelligence: (internal and external).

Requirements Qualifications:
•BCom Honours (Investment Management)/ CA(SA) or equivalent.
•CFA charter holder or in the process of completion (CFA Level 1 & 2)

Experience:
•A minimum of 5-8 years' experience in equity analysis
•5+ years' experience in Company analysis

Duties & Responsibilities The Senior Equity Analyst will be involved with the following:
Being an active participant and leader of a small but effective research team.Analyzing domestic and internationally listed companies and presenting the results to stockbrokers and clients.Keeping up to date with market research and company news.Understanding and being fully conversant in various data platforms used in the investment process.Collaborate with other research teams within Momentum Securities as well as technical analysis team to develop researchAnalyses and interprets engaging market researchEdit, proofread and improve researchUse content management systems to analyse website traffic and users engagement metricsManage research distribution to front line teamsStay up to date with market developments and generate new ideas to draw audience's attention/ generate trade and ensure that the teams strategic direction is aligned to that of Momentum Securities.Participate in the morning meetings with the Portfolio Management team providing them with the companies' single view - market expectations and fundamental calls.Oversee the Model portfolio performance calculation and preparing of factsheetParticipating in PR company specific PR requestsParticipating in client events where required.Build meaningful and effective relationships with internal stakeholders•Effectively lead a team
Lead, build and provide direction and developmental opportunities to the more junior members of the research team within Momentum Securities.Where MMI allows, to identify opportunities to leverage off strategic relationships and alliances to build new investment or growth opportunities.Manage the performance of direct reports.Identify relevant developmental needs of direct reports.Ensure transformational targets are metCompany research
Company research and analysis.Timeously producing reportsResearch.Attending company presentations.Reviewing portfolio, sector and stock returns and risk.
•Provide technical support and make recommendations, which require :
A good technical appreciation of the economy, markets, sectors, and stocks.An understanding of portfolio mandates.A good understanding of the investment philosophy and process.Present company research to different stakeholders.Good communication skills and the ability to effectively convey investment ideas.
